TERMS & CONDITIONS
Mel's Neighborhood Rodents holds specific adoption standards and reserves certain rights. We reserve the right to deny any adoptions for the following reasons:
Individual refuses to comply with suitable enclosure guidelines
Individual plans to breed adopted animals without proof of appropriate registration OR without having discussed the plans
Individual displays rude, apathetic, or otherwise sketchy behavior
Individual is unresponsive to messages and reminders
In addition, we reserve the right to deny any adoptions without a given reason.
HEALTH OF OUR ANIMALS
Mel's Neighborhood Rodents ensures quality bred pets with genetic and behavioral details in mind. In the event that an adopted animal becomes ill within the first month of ownership, Mel's Neighborhood Rodents accepts full responsibility of a viable solution, which may include a full or partial reimbursement from a veterinarian visit depending on the circumstances. In order for a solution to be discussed, the owner must reach out to Mel directly. Keep in mind that the official receipt from your veterinarian must be kept and provided to Mel if you wish for a full or partial reimbursement.
While we provide close monitoring to all of our surrendered pets ('rescues') within a certain period prior to posting their adoption profiles on our website, we cannot guarantee that these animals are of completely sound health. This is because most of these pets have been purchased from pet stores, which have been known to produce animals of poor health and genetics. We are unable to provide veterinarian visit reimbursements for 'rescue' adoptions.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE
Mel's Neighborhood Rodents holds a promise to ensure that your adoption experience with us is pleasantly simple and quick. In order for us to ensure this, we send periodic reminders and requests between the time that the adoption is placed and when the animal is dropped off/picked up. If you are unresponsive to our messages, we are unable to confirm your adoption, and thus reserve the right to cancel.
Payment for adopted animals is due 24 hours prior to drop-off/pick-up of the animal, unless discussed otherwise. The meeting location for drop-off/pick-up must also be confirmed 24 hours prior. Should the individual fail to send payment or confirmation, we reserve the right to cancel the adoption.
Should an individual place a reservation and change their mind later, they are urged to contact us immediately to delete the reservation.
MISCELLANEOUS
Should we make a mistake on the sex of your pet(s), separate your pair/group immediately to avoid accidental pregnancies. Then, contact us — we would be happy to either replace your adopted pet, or provide a cage mate for that pet free of charge.
